Frequently Asked Questions
When you order a money pulling cake from Tings Bakery, we’ve made the process incredibly simple so you don't have to worry about a physical cash handover. Instead of coming down to our bakery to drop off notes, you can simply add the total amount of cash you’d like hidden inside the cake to your final bill.
You can then make a single, convenient payment via PayNow to our UEN: 53394429E (Tings Bakery). This total should include both the cost of your cake and the specific cash amount for the mechanism.
Our team handles the rest, ensuring the correct amount is prepared and safely loaded into your cake.

Hygiene is a top priority for us, and we have specifically designed our cakes to be both clean and functional. To ensure the highest level of food safety, we use a dedicated internal box that acts as a physical barrier, completely separating the currency notes from the cake sponge and cream.
Interestingly, we have made the professional decision not to use individual plastic sleeves for the notes. In our years of experience, we found that plastic sleeves significantly increased the risk of the money getting stuck or jamming mid-pull. By removing the plastic and using a high-quality internal container, we provide a much more enjoyable and stress-free experience for the celebrant while keeping the cake itself 100% hygienic and ready to eat.

For the smoothest and most successful reveal, every money pull cake we create has a maximum limit of 20 notes.
This limit is based on the physical size of the internal mechanism and the structural integrity of the cake. When you go beyond 20 notes, the roll can become too bulky, which increases the tension and makes it harder for the recipient to pull the money out fluidly. By sticking to this limit, we ensure that the surprise lasts long enough for great photos and videos while ensuring the mechanical parts work perfectly every time.

While we love the idea of adding a local winning touch to your surprise, we unfortunately cannot include TOTO or 4D tickets in the pulling mechanism.
Our internal boxes are precision-engineered to fit the exact dimensions and paper thickness of standard Singapore currency notes. TOTO and 4D tickets are often a different size and texture, which means they do not roll up correctly and are highly likely to cause a jam inside the cake. To ensure your celebration goes off without a hitch, we recommend sticking strictly to standard cash notes for the hidden surprise.

As we have intentionally removed the plastic sleeves that often cause friction and jams, it is very rare for our cakes to get stuck. However, if you find that the notes are catching slightly during the reveal, the best approach is to stay calm and pull very gently. Do not use force or yank the topper, as this could tear the cake or damage the internal box. Usually, a slow and steady hand is all that is needed to keep the surprise flowing smoothly until the very last note is revealed.
At Tings Bakery, we believe in straightforward and transparent pricing. You will be happy to know that there is no extra add-on fee for the money-pulling feature. The mechanism is already included in the listed price of the cake itself. When you browse our specific collection of money cakes, the price you see covers the design, the baking, and the specialised assembly required for the hidden surprise. This means you can focus on choosing the perfect design without worrying about hidden costs at checkout.
It is a common concern that a money cake might feel empty because of the space required for the hidden box. We can assure you that your cake will not look or feel hollow at all. Our expert bakers are highly skilled at integrating the mechanism into the centre of the cake while maximising the amount of delicious sponge and cream around it. We use specific layering techniques so that even after the money has been pulled out and it’s time to serve the guests, there is still a generous amount of cake for everyone to enjoy.
We understand that crisp, brand-new notes look beautiful and festive for a birthday or anniversary. While we will always try our absolute best to source new notes from the bank for your order, we cannot 100% guarantee this, as it depends entirely on the bank's stock at the time your cake is prepared. However, we do promise to only use clean, high-quality notes to ensure that your gift looks as elegant and impressive as possible when it is being pulled out of the cake.
Proper storage is key to ensuring your cake looks and tastes its best! If you have ordered one of our cream-based cakes (even if it has some fondant decorations), it must be kept in the fridge to maintain its stability and freshness.
However, if your cake is a full fondant design, we recommend keeping it in a cool, air-conditioned room instead. Fully fondant-covered cakes should not be placed in the fridge because condensation can form on the surface once you take it out, which may cause the colours to run or the fondant to become sticky. If you are unsure which type of cake you have, our team is always happy to provide specific storage advice.
