Tings Bakery has been making gender reveal cakes in Singapore since 2019, from our own SFA-licensed kitchen at The Adelphi in City Hall. Only one decorator opens your scan result, it is destroyed once the cake is baked, and it never appears on the order form or in any message we send you. We make all three reveal formats, a classic cut, a burnaway and a pinata smash, which as far as we know makes us the only bakery in Singapore offering the full set.
What Is a Gender Reveal Cake?
A gender reveal cake is a cake with a neutral exterior and a pink or blue interior, so the baby’s sex is revealed to the room at the moment the cake is opened.
The mechanics are simple. You give the bakery the scan result sealed. The bakery builds the colour inside and finishes the outside so it gives nothing away. At the party, the cake is cut, burned or smashed, and everyone finds out together, including the parents if they have chosen not to know.
Because the parents usually do not know either, a gender reveal cake is the only cake we make where the bakery holds information the customer does not. That is why the process matters more than the design, and why this page leads with it.

How It Works
Step 1: Enquire and Choose Your Format
Browse our gender reveal designs and tell us whether you want a classic cut, a burnaway or a pinata smash. WhatsApp +65 9169 9195 with your date and headcount.
Step 2: Choose Your Exterior Theme
Jungle, celestial, floral, a nursery colour scheme, or anything you send us. The only rule is that the exterior stays neutral with respect to pink and blue, and we will steer you off any palette that gives the game away.
Step 3: Get the Result to Us Sealed
Bring the sealed envelope when you collect, hand it to our driver, or have your clinic send it to us directly. One decorator opens it, and it is destroyed once your cake is baked.
Step 4: Confirm and Pay
Full payment secures the slot, because the date is not held until payment is received. PayNow to UEN 53394429E. If you are still waiting on a scan date, tell us and we will hold a slot.
Step 5: The Reveal
We deliver in a 12pm to 3pm or 3pm to 6pm window, or you collect free from The Adelphi, which is the simplest way to hand over the envelope with nobody in between. Keep the cake refrigerated until the moment.

How We Keep the Secret
This is the part every gender reveal cake page skips, and it is the only part that actually worries you. So here it is.
Send us the result sealed. Give us the scan result in a sealed envelope, or send it to us directly, whichever you prefer, as long as it does not pass through your hands unsealed. If your clinic or sonographer is willing to send it to us on your behalf, that is the cleanest version and we will coordinate it with them.

Three Ways to Reveal
We make all three formats, which as far as we know makes us the only bakery in Singapore offering the full set. They produce very different videos.
The Classic Cut
A neutral cake with coloured sponge or filling inside. Someone cuts the first slice, everyone leans in, and the colour is there.
Calm, traditional, and the one that works best when there are grandparents in the room. It is also the most forgiving, because there is nothing to light and nothing to swing.
The Burnaway
The top layer of the cake burns away in a few seconds to reveal the colour, or a printed message, underneath.
The most dramatic of the three and the most reliably filmable, because everyone is already looking at it before anything happens. Start recording before you light it: the reveal happens within seconds. See Burnaway Cakes.
The Pinata Smash
A chocolate dome over the cake, filled with pink or blue cream underneath the sweets. You hand someone the mallet and the colour spills out.
Loud, physical, and the best of the three if there are older siblings who want a job. Take it out of the fridge half an hour beforehand, or the shell will be much harder to break. See Pinata Cakes.

Which Format Should You Choose?
If you are filming for social media, the burnaway gives the best few seconds of footage. If the reveal is for family at a dinner table, the classic cut is the right call. If there are children who will be upset not to have a job, the pinata smash solves that.
Where to Cut It for the Video
Small thing, and it decides whether the footage is any good.
Cut from the centre outwards, not from the edge in. A slice taken from the middle exposes the coloured sponge across its full depth on the first cut. An edge slice can come away with the colour hidden behind the outer frosting.
Cut towards the camera, not away from it. The face of the slice you are lifting should be angled at the lens. Practise the movement once with the knife before you start filming.
Lift the slice out slowly and hold it. The colour reads on camera for about a second before everyone’s hands get in the way. Give the phone that second.
Have someone filming faces, not just cake. The reaction is the video. The cake is the reason for it.
For a burnaway, start recording before you light it. For a pinata, film from slightly above so the camera catches the sweets spilling rather than just the mallet.
How Many Does It Serve?
Measurements are the diameter, not the height. For a reveal specifically, the 8 inch is the practical choice: big enough for a clean centre cut, small enough that the colour reads in frame.
Delivery and Collection
- Free islandwide delivery on orders above $180, otherwise a flat $20
- Sentosa, Changi, Tuas and Jurong Island carry an additional $15
- Delivery windows of 12pm to 3pm or 3pm to 6pm, with an hour either side for traffic
- Someone needs to be there to receive it. Our driver waits ten minutes and then calls, and a redelivery costs $30

The reveal takes a few seconds, so start recording before you light it. A classic cut is better for a calm family moment, and a pinata smash is better if there are children who want to be involved.
It is the most forgiving format, with nothing to light and nothing to swing, and it suits a table of family rather than a party. An 8 inch serves 8 to 12 and gives you a clean centre cut that reads well on camera.
Angle the cut towards the camera, lift the slice slowly and hold it for a second before anyone's hands get in the way. And have someone filming faces, because the reaction is the video.
It is big enough for a clean centre cut and small enough that the colour reads well in frame. A 6 inch serves 5 to 7, a 10 inch serves 13 to 25, and a two-tier covers 26 to 35.
The only rule is that the exterior stays neutral with respect to pink and blue, and we will steer you off any palette that gives the game away. Cream and gold, jungle green and celestial navy are the three most-ordered because they are genuinely neutral.

If you already know and you are revealing it to family, just tell us the colour directly rather than sending a sealed envelope. The secrecy process exists for parents who have chosen not to know, and it is optional.
Two colours inside one cake, or two smaller cakes cut at once, are both workable. Send us the sealed result and tell us how you want it presented.
For a pinata gender reveal, bring it out of the fridge about 30 minutes before the smash, or the chocolate shell will be much harder to break. For a burnaway, do collect right before celebrations as it is not suitable to put in chiller due to condensation on top layer.

Our shells are calibrated to be durable enough to survive delivery but thin enough for almost anyone to break. A child of about four or five upwards can usually manage it in one or two swings. For a younger child, let an adult make the first crack and let them open it out.
We do not use pork, lard or alcohol in any of our cakes or ingredients, and our ingredients are Halal-sourced. Our kitchen is SFA-licensed under licence number CE20L85J000.
