About Tings Bakery: A One-Person Kitchen in City Hall Since 2019

Tings Bakery is a founder-led custom cake bakery at #B1-20 The Adelphi in City Hall, Singapore. Ting trained as a law graduate, spent three years baking at home, and opened the bakery in 2019, which means the person quoting your cake is the person who has to build it. Every cake we sell is designed, baked and decorated to order in our own SFA-licensed kitchen at that same address, under licence CE20L85J000.

Meet Ting Ting the Founder of Tings Bakery

From failed bakes to a dream come true, this is my story, and the story behind Tings Bakery.

Meet Ting Ting, Founder of Tings Bakery

What started as a journey of curiosity and countless experiments eventually became a passion, and then, a bakery.

A law school graduate by training, I never imagined that baking would become such a big part of my life. I started from scratch, learning through trial and error, embracing failed bakes, gathering opinions from family and friends, and trying again and again. Every imperfect cake became a lesson, and every piece of feedback became an opportunity to improve.

After three years of home baking, I officially founded Tings Bakery in 2019, turning my passion into a business built on persistence, learning, and a love for creating something that brings people joy.

Seven years on, that same spirit continues to be at the heart of Tings Bakery. From those first home-baked creations to the cakes we make today, I believe there is always something new to learn, something to perfect, and always another bake worth trying.

What Being Founder-Led Actually Changes

Three practical differences, rather than a claim about passion.
01

You get an honest answer before you pay.

The person quoting your cake is the person who has to build it, so there is no incentive to take an order that cannot be delivered well. If a reference photo will not translate, if a structure will not hold in Singapore humidity, or if a date is genuinely too tight, you hear it at the quote stage.
02

Nothing is outsourced.

Every cake we sell is made in one kitchen, at our shop address, under one licence. Custom cake businesses in Singapore vary considerably in how much of the work is actually theirs.
03

We will turn an order down.

Most often on allergens, where we cannot guarantee what a customer needs guaranteed. It is the least commercial thing on this page and the most important.

What Makes Our Cakes Different

Three concrete things, rather than adjectives. Each of these is a decision we made deliberately, and each has a reason behind it.
01

The Mechanisms Are Included, Not Charged For

A money pulling cake, an explosion bomb shell, a pinata cavity, a burnaway layer: the engineering that makes each of these work is built into the price of the cake. Most bakeries in Singapore treat the mechanism as a paid add-on. We do not, because the mechanism is not an extra. It is the reason you are ordering that cake in the first place, and charging separately for it always felt like charging for the punchline.
02

We Do Not Wrap the Notes in Plastic Sleeves

On a money pulling cake, individual plastic wrappers look tidy in a photograph. They also catch on the jam and cream as the ribbon travels up, and a jammed pull ruins the exact moment the cake exists to create. So we use a sealed internal sleeve that separates the cash from the cake instead, and we accept that it photographs slightly less neatly. That is the sort of trade-off you only learn by getting it wrong once.

The Bomb Shell Is Plastic, and You Keep It

A chocolate shell photographs beautifully and behaves terribly in Singapore. It softens between our kitchen and your table and it will not survive a car boot in the afternoon. So our explosion bomb shells are durable black plastic: completely heat-resistant, identical at your table to how it looked when we handed it over. It also means the shell outlives the cake. Wash it out and customers use them for jewellery, keys and small keepsakes.

Our Credentials

Facts you can check, rather than claims you have to take on trust.

SFA Food Shop Licence: CE20L85J000. Every cake we sell is made in our own licensed kitchen. You can verify this yourself on the Singapore Food Agency's Track Records portal by searching "Tings Bakery" in the business name field

UEN: 53394429E, registered as Tings Bakery

Halal: we do not hold MUIS certification. We do not use pork, lard or alcohol in any of our cakes, our ingredients are Halal-sourced, and we are working towards formal certification. We would rather tell you exactly where we stand than let you assume either way

Allergens: Tings Bakery accommodates dairy-free, vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free requests on a case-by-case basis when you ask in advance. If you or a guest has a diagnosed allergy, contact us before ordering

See Food Safety for the full detail, including storage guidance and what is and is not edible on a decorated cake.

Our Shop at The Adelphi

We are at #B1-20 The Adelphi, 1 Coleman Street, Singapore 179803, on the basement level, about two minutes’ walk from City Hall MRT Exit B.

You can collect from us rather than have a cake delivered, and for tall cakes, 3D structures and anything with a mechanism, collecting is genuinely the safer option: it removes the car journey entirely. Collection is free, and pickup slots are arranged when you order so the cake is finished and chilled for your time.

Opening hours are Monday to Saturday 12.30pm to 8.30pm, and Sunday 12.30pm to 4.30pm.

One thing worth knowing: we are a made-to-order bakery rather than a display-counter shop. If you want to buy something on the day rather than collect an order, message us on +65 9169 9195 first and we will tell you honestly what is possible before you make the trip.

See Cake Shop City Hall for directions and parking.
